Cheyenne Jensen started training Brazillian Jiu Jitsu at the young age of ten. Learning from her dad, John ‘rev’ Jensen, she began to pick up the sport and take it more seriously after John opened his own MMA and BJJ gym, Millennia. Cheyenne’s involvement with the gym lead her to begin learning kickboxing and MMA basics. By her teens, Cheyenne was assisting in teaching kid’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes.
After taking some time off from training during high school, Cheyenne came back to Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing with a new found passion as an adult. With a special interest in exercise and fitness, she rediscovered the sport for herself and began to refine her skills. After a couple of years training in both BJJ and Kickboxing under Noah Tillis, Cheyenne moved to Oak View and began to train under her father, here at Ojai Valley MMA. In January of 2016, Cheyenne was promoted to blue belt in BJJ.
Cheyenne has spent the last year working with The Girls Empowerment Workshops, where she helps facilitate programs aimed at providing information and skills for high school and junior high girls. Pursuing this area brought Cheyenne to the realization that self-defense is an important key to empowerment and confidence building, particularly with girls and women. She recently received certification as a ‘Girls On Guard’ Self Defense Instructor and has already begun running Women’s Self Defense workshops here at Ojai Valley MMA. Her passion for empowerment and martial arts paired together naturally and she brings that special interest to our gym.
With a love for the energy and coordination of kickboxing, Cheyenne began to excel in this area. She now instructs Kickboxing and Bootcamp classes. Cheyenne wants to use her passion for the sport to energize her class and encourage the students to get a great work out while having a great time.
